Kindergarten No. 129
In 1962 Mongolian artist Dagdangiin Amgalan created the work ‘Hello, Mummy! (‘Eezh ee, sein baina uu’) or ‘Good Morning’ (‘Өглөөөний мэнд’), in the linocut technique. For his work in 1963 the artist received the State Prize of the USSR. The plot with a little girl became one of the most popular in the USSR. The girl from the engraving is depicted on a mosaic on kindergarten No. 129.
The idea for the painting came to Amgalan in winter, when he was a twenty-three-year-old student at the Moscow Art Institute, came home on holiday and saw his two-year-old daughter Zhavkhlan running towards his wife.
