Zhukhovichi House of Culture
Malye Zhukhovichi in the Korelichi district of the Grodno region is another interesting place with a unique history. The Malozhukhovitsky Gospel was kept here - a monument of old Belarusian handwritten book writing of the late 15th - early 16th centuries. The layout of the House of Culture in Malye Zhukhovichi is somewhat similar to the building in Turtse. In the dance hall, there is a mosaic on three walls. One depicts peasant girls with bread and sheaves. In terms of execution, the work resembles a Florentine mosaic, only ceramic tiles were used instead of marble. On the other two panels, the decorative background is a drawing from typical village dyvans (homespun bedspreads). On the second panel, a whirlwind of a round dance seems to be part of a cheerful ornament. The third work consists of historical inserts: about the revolution (or war), the conquest of space and the present time. According to the director of the cultural center, two mosaics were made around the 1980s. The mosaic with the girls most likely dates back to the 1960s.
