Textured glass compositions in the Horizon administrative building
In the halls of the second and third floors of the former public catering plant of the PA "Gorizont" three-dimensional openwork compositions by Ninel Schastnaya have been preserved: two triptychs "Birds in the Garden" and "Birds in the Sky". The artist was constantly experimenting. Ninel Schastnaya came up with a way to make a sculpture out of flat glass: she fastened the parts with wire, the fastening became part of the composition and the basic pattern. The technique was first used to create a stained glass window for the Belarus restaurant.
Initially, the panels "Birds in the Garden" and "Birds in the Sky" were mechanical, the glass birds could spin around their axis, thus creating the effect of flight. It is hard to believe, but the compositions weigh more than 7 tons.
