Painting ‘Farewell’ at the agroforestry college
A group of young people in the foreground - students and young professionals. The man above and to the left is Kirill Orlovsky, chairman of the Rassvet collective farm. Orlovsky served in the Gulag, participated in the Spanish war, and restored the collective farm in the late 1940s. The collective farm ‘Rassvet’ was one of the most successful farms in the USSR. Orlovsky became the prototype for the 1965 film The Chairman, directed by Yuri Saltykov, based on the novel of the same name by Yuri Nagibin.
