Mosaic on the House of Culture in Zamość
A mosaic of smalt and ceramic tiles is on the House of Culture in the village of Zamość (former collective farm Krasny Ray). Zamość belongs to the Slutsk district, once the Belarusian People's Republic was organised here, not far away there was the Slutsk uprising against the new Bolshevik power. Different historical events are reflected on the mosaic panel: agitation for Soviet power, an old soldier and a revolutionary in a leather jacket holding a newspaper Zvezda (the first Soviet newspaper to be published in Belarus), labour everyday life in peacetime. A separate part of the panel is devoted to rest. The artist has made the panel in such a way that an accessible view from different points is preserved. The mood of the time is emphasised through colour: red is the colour of revolution and spilled blood, yellow-gold is the colour of sprouting fields, autumn and yellowing leaves. The area of the mosaic is 110 m².
